Shelburne, VT - A fish out of water

Amma and Poppie suggested that we go to the Shelburne Museum.  We tried to go the first day we got in the area but got rained out.  It made for a nice morning of laundry, school work and groceries.  Day two we headed to the Museum.  What fun!  There was a lot of Vermont history.  In some ways it was similar to the Ford Museum.
Round barn - build for efficiency
The circus building was an interesting horse shoe shaped building build to house their collection of hand carved circus models.  A gentleman spent 30 years carving the models  from photos of the old circus horse carts.
The Girl Band
They had a railroad section with old 220 which was called the "Presidents Engine" because it transported a number of presidents.
Balance!
The Ticonderoga was quite the surprise to find in the middle of a field.  A side paddle wheeler  which was really neat to tour and find out how it all worked.
We found a great kids section that if we had let the kids have at they would have stayed all day.
Somewhere Amma and Poppie have a photo of Dashboard Duck in the same chair.
Having a lighthouse on land isn't that odd but since this one started on a rock in the middle of nowhere it was interesting to find this one.  The son of a woman who was born in the lighthouse in 1888 bought the lighthouse when it was decommissioned and brought it to Shelburne.
One of the cool finds was an early hid-a-bed. Since we are tiny living the boys were quick to realize what it was.

Did you tell the boys that the hide-a-bed was where they stuffed the kids that didn't behave?

I would have. :-)

It's fun to mess with the kids.
