Hit the Trail - New Hampshire Style
We decided it was time to hit the trails again. Sweet's bucket list includes hiking part of the PCT and AMT. So we got a mile done on the AMT ;)
It was more rock scrabbling that we expected but pretty awesome views of Mt. Washington.
We stopped for a bit at the pond to take in the views.
Then the real fun started. I think the trail was designed to be an out to the pond and back but it was clearly marked on the trail that it connected with another trail that went where we wanted. We missed the "river crossing" symbol. Team Building activity here we come!
We made it across the river and then headed up Glen Boulder trail. Full Disclosure - We need to be better about getting full information on an area before getting started. We thought Boulder was the last name of the guy who put the trail together. Not that we would be climbing up trails (they marked the blazes on the rocks not trees) full of rocks. The boys were absolute troopers and most people we passed were pretty amazed that the boys were still going! Lunch on the truck - ATC patches for their packs.
For the afternoon we decided to pay the toll and drive the Mt. Washington road. After driving the Going to the Sun Road we thought it would be cake. Oh Dear Heavens No!!! And the views weren't all that spectacular but it was fun to see the climate change from the bottom to the top and see a building chained to the ground since it had experienced 230+ MPH winds.
Nope, no wind or weather challenges here!
Mt. Washington is home to the cog railway. It was pretty neat to see how it works.Off to the next adventure!!!
