Hey Ho Nobody Home...

We had great plans, we had visitors coming, we knew where we wanted to go, what lessons we wanted to teach the little pickles but... 1/4 isn't bad right????

Amma and Poppie came out to visit for a week and we kicked it off with a stay in Auburn, AL with the hopes of taking in the Tuskeegee Airfield National Park, Booker T. Washington's home and the George Washington Carver Museum just down the road in Tuskeegee.

We sang a rousing chorus of "Breaking the Law" as we hopped the fence at Tuskeegee Airfield NP.  We made sure to have a trash bag with us to do our part to keep the park clean in this difficult time.  Poppie commented that the flag was still half staff - one more reminder that the personnel left the park before Christmas so have not been back to raise it since the end of the period of mourning for President Bush.
Even through we could not get into any of the Hangars to see the exhibits they had really good signage around the park so we could tell what happened there during WWII.  They even had a number of "skeleton buildings" that keep the presence there without a full rebuild.
The brickwork in the Control Tower was amazing!
No one else was there so we checked ourselves in at the old gate house.

We headed to Tuskeegee University, home of The Oaks (Booker T. Washington's home).
Again, nothing open but it was neat to be on hallowed ground.

I hope we quit seeing this sign soon!!!
Lots of closed doors, but open hearts, so glad to have a week with Amma and Poppie.  Stay tuned for the rest of our adventures.
