Albuquerque 1/2 - Petroglyph National Monument
Time for some ancient history!
As one of the more recent National Monmuents - Petroglyph National Monument is a wonderful community project to save the native history of Albuquerque. One of the neat things about this Monument is how it is not only thousands of years old but also more recent history. Most of the petroglyphs are from the native tribes who moved through the area.
We had a beautiful day for hiking!
Yes - this really is a thousand year old petroglyph!
In the last 100's of years the area was used by ranchers for sheep and the shepherds decided to add their own decoration. In a few places they also added the ranch brands.
