Back home one of the many claims to fame is being the end of
Lewis and Clark's long journey to the Pacific Ocean. We even make it out to
Fort Clatsop every
now and then (OK it's been a while). Since we were right around the corner we figured it would be a good idea to see where the Corps of Discovery spent the winter before they headed west.
Camp Dubois was their winter camp as Lewis completed off site preparations and Clark prepared the men. They have a wonderful museum with a full dimension but cut in half keel boat.

Out back they built up what they think the camp looked like for the 200th anniversary. There are some definite clues to why they built Clatsop the way they did.

As a part of the 200th anniversary celebration the people of the local area came together and built the Confluence Tower to show where the 3 rivers came together. We were lucky enough to be able to go up in the tower!
