Hanging Lake
We headed west through Sweet's least favorite section of highway (Vail Pass anyone?) We had decided to break up our trip to the next national park by stopping in Gypsum. There really isn't much to do in Gypsum proper but we had a Horseman tell us that Hanging Lake was a must do hike. Let me preface this with a few details; we are already at elevation and now higher, Sweet's knees don't do hills very well anymore. Now begin... Hanging Lake is a 1.3 mile out and back hike with approximatly 1000 ft in elevation gain. Let me say it is worth the work and the $12 a head you now have to pay for a permit to hike.
Up the trail a tiny bit more was the spouting wall.
After the hike we went into Glenwood Springs and soaked in the Hot Springs Pool and then went to a brew pub. Some people said it was one of the very best days of the trip.

We walked in snow! |
Totally worth the hike |
The railings were angled so we almost lost the camera. |
We found fish! |
Somebody really liked being behind the water |
