Dinosaur 1/3 - One Park Two States

Dinosaur National Monument is split between two states.  Each part has a very different focus.  The west side is focused on the Fossil Bones.

Instead of driving from the visitor's center to the quarry wall we took the hike up around the hill.
KimChee was excited to get to touch actual dinosaur bones!
They had skeletons an a great mural of life in that time period.
They have stopped excavation on the wall.  They are now doing a digital evaluation to see what all is there.  When Sweet went 30 years ago they were doing excavation.
We then loaded into the truck and headed out the road to the petroglyphs and Josie's Homestead.

Josie lived out oh the homestead for 40 years as a single woman running cows and sheep in the box canyons.  When she slipped on the ice when she was 89 and her friends found her 3 days later after dragging herself from the barn to the house she knew here time in the canyon was over.
The boys had a blast playing in the box canyon and listening to the echo.
