Next stop - Newport, RI
For Sweet's birthday we headed to Newport. A day on the beach. If you look in the top right you will see the bell tower from the Church at St. George's School. We were able to connect with some shipmates who now work there and get a tour of that church - AMAZING!
After the beach we headed to Ft. Adams where the boys got their official Tunnel Rat patches. We toured the officer's quarters as well as a short section of the tunnels below. Kind of funny they made the tunnels above ground and then back filled!

Speaking of officers - as we were touring the grounds a young groom came out of the dressing room and asked if anyone knew how to tie a bow tie. Sweet stepped up and offered her services. 14 years of helping Dill dress in his DDB's paid off!
The boat show was in town but we thought this was the coolest boat!
Day 2 held more adventures - which Sweet forgot to take pictures of. We spent the day with one of the 4 horsemen from the Academy and his wonderful wife. Downtown Newport, Kites, Tidepools and dinner.
Day 3 brought lessons in:
Rock Hopping

The non-paved portion of the Cliff Walk |
