Electricity

With our first snow storm came our first power outage.  By the grace of God the lights were kind of blinky for a while before the power went out so I was able to prepare by filling our bathtub with some extra water since when the power goes out our well no longer works.  The first quick outage was at about 6 as I was trying to slide pizza into the oven - not advised!  Then once we had finished dinner it went black - really black and from the other room we hear from Gherkin.
"MOMMY, THE LIGHTS ARE BROKEN!"
So began our 26 hour adventure with no electricity...At first it was fun, dragging all the stuffies into the living room to play with.
Can you find the Gherkin?
We tried to find things we could do by candlelight.

Gherkin loved the power of the flashlight and the ability to light an area.
Our sleeping arrangements for two nights, by the warmth of our gas fireplace.
So glad we bought sleeping bags for everyone this summer!
The second morning I had all the lights turned off when Gherkin got up and he said,  "The electricity is still broken." I invited him to try the switch and he yelled in surprise "IT WORKS!"
Snuggled with the stuffies.
