Glacier Day 2.5 AKA Close Encounters

Day 2.5 started out with great plans to use the shuttle again.  The boys were not pleased with the 0600 reveille but came around in the car - sort of.  We were going to park at Apgar and do the fast shuttle to Logan Pass but the wait was going to be almost a hour.  We drove up to Avalanche and decided to hike for a while before catching the shuttle up to the Pass.  Our first hike was the Trail of the Cedars that connects to Avalanche Lake.

We grabbed our Lunch Boxes and got in line for the shuttle to Logan Pass.  About an hour later we were there and ready to go!  We headed out on the Hidden Lake Overlook Trail.  Logan Pass is at the top of the Continental Divide so we were above 7000' by the time we got to the top of the trail.  That means SNOW!!!  There were quite a few snowfields to cross as we went up the trail.
Snow Field Fun!
We saw a few Mountain Goats lounging in the snow on our way up the hill.  When we got to the top the view was spectacular!!!

On the way down the boys had a very close encounter with a mountain goat.  They were a bit ahead of us on the trail and when Dill and Sweet turned the corner we came upon this...  Minor Mommy Panic Moment.

KimChee had a bit of a tumble a moment later so he needed his "Blood, Sweat and Tears on Hidden Lake Trail" Photo.
Super Cool First Aide by Sweet ;)
After a shuttle ride back down to the truck we headed to Lake McDonald for a little cooling off!  The boys started brand new penny books for our journey.
