A Day at the Beach

As any true PNW'er will tell you - one must take advantage of any "good" weather.  What is "good" weather you might ask - winds under 30 mph and no rain.  Overcast is not an issue - if it's dry find something to do.  We had a little sun when we got home from church so we decided to head down to the beach.  Now in any other part of the country going to the beach includes shorts, sunscreen, maybe a beach umbrella.  Here sweatshirts, a windbreak and hand warmers are usually in order.

Gherkin tried his hand at flying his kite from the dollar store.  There was a guy parakiting close to us - it was pretty neat to watch him take off and land.
Flying High

This is fun!!
Gherkin spent lots of time playing in the sand, kicking it, digging, running his trucks through it.
Kicking the tracks from the trucks that had driven on the beach
At one point there was a fishing vessel just on the other side of the breakers.  Only briefly did I debate calling the Coast Guard but when I saw the puffs of engine smoke I figured they were doing well - and when the State Park guy drove right past I decided it was standard ops.
Zoomin in the coast!
Here's to many more days at the beach!!!
Yup, Mommy spent the time on the beach knitting ;)
