Christmas Miracles

Earlier I mentioned that somebody Grinched New England's white Christmas and sent it to Oregon. Well it got worse... Not just a nifty dusting but 6-8 inches by the time we were done. We were lucky enough to get out of CT before the snow hit here and to Oregon for the holiday before it got really bad...Although being snowbound with your in-laws (sorry Big D) for 3 days can get interesting. This photo is from the 22 of December. We got another 4 inches in the course of that day and then another 2 on Christmas Eve. Of course a snowman must be made. Since that seems to be Gherkin's word for all snow related things. The snow on the ground, the piles in the shopping store lot, the falling wonder. The poor snowman had a bit of a listing problem and ended up falling backward in a couple of days. Poppie took a good photo of his 35 degree list to the back.
Too much snow play tuckers you out!

Christmas day was a blast with the whole clan together. Uncle A and Aunt V were able to make it over the hills in one piece for the morning celebration.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Pickle Barrel...
Yes - I know I am late ;)
On a developmental note...
Gherkin has two new phrases "Oh Man!" and "Otay". He is running around like a crazed man during the day. We started two new sleeping rules for the New Year...1. Mommy doesn't get up at night unless you have been hollering for more than 30 minutes or it's "the cry". 2. You stay in bed for nap for 2 hours whether you sleep or not. So far, after the first night disaster he has slept through the night (though he insists on sleeping in the big bed in his room, but he will nap in his toddler bed). Nap times are great - sometimes he sleeps the 2 hours other times he plays quietly. We start back to preschool on Friday - canceled today due to the ice storm. Mommy can't wait!
