As it Began so it Ends

24 years ago the Big Dill walked across this parking lot and buoy yard to report to his first assignment in the Coast Guard as a member of the crew of the USCGC Buttonwood.  Last week we celebrated and closed out his career on the same yard.

Awards were given, pictures were taken....

Honors were rendered...

 We were reminded just before the ceremony how important buoys have been to Dill's career.  He was looking through some paperwork and remembered that he was integral in the placement of a buoy within San Francisco harbor as a permanent aid to navigation.  As we closed out his career we became friends with one of the authors of The Adventures of Connor the Cutter and were blessed to be a part of the second book, having Pickles the Buoy named after our family.

So as it began so it ends...Time for our next adventure!
