Happy Lunar New Year! Greetings from Chinatown NY,NY!
The Pickle Barrel once again got to spend the Chinese (Lunar) New Year in the heart of Manhatten, NY! Gherkin got all dressed up in his celebration outfit and was ready for the trip into the city.
We are entering the year of the Rat (Big D was also born in the year of the Rat!).
We spent Sunday afternoon in Chinatown and enjoyed good food and the annual parade. There were lots of dragons...

It had 10 people running the body!
There were also displays of martial arts
One of the highlights is the fireworks, though firecrakers have been banned you see lots of "cannons" of confetti. The streets are just covered in the paper by the end of the parade.
Gherkin took it all in stride and enjoyed watching most of the parade from Big D's shoulders. It got quite cold once the sun ducked behind the buildings but Gherkin snuggled in for the adventure.
Yes, that would be my serious child, the one with the death grip on Big D's fingers!
